‘Do you have any kind of stress? Stress about your family, friends, office etc.’Is it not the question the doctor asks you when you say him that you are having headache for the past 2 days? Yes it’s the same question. But we are not able to give answer to this many times. The reason? We don’t know what stress is? People react to it in their own ways. Learning to understand and manage stress can prevent the counter effects of stress. The word ‘positive’ and ‘stress’ may not often go together. but, there are innumerable instances of athletes rising to the challenge of stress and achieving the unachievable. sudha chandran, an Indian dancing diva, lost both of her legs in an accident.but, the physical and social inadequacies gave her more impetus to carry on with her dance performances with the help of prosthetic legs rather than deter her spirits. Research suggests that stress can actually increase our performance. Instead of wilting under stress, one can use it to achieve success.
Stress can cause headaches, eating disorders, allergies, insomnia, hypertensions, asthma, heart ailments and even cancer. so, how can one cope with stress? Methods of coping with stress are aplenty. The most significant or sensible way out is a change of lifestyle relaxation techniques such as meditation. Listening to soothing music, deep breathing visualization, massage are some of the most effective of the known non-invasive stress busters. Give importance to your self-esteem. Celebrate even you smallest successes. Create positive image about yourself. Believe in your own abilities. as Eleanor Roosevelt has said ‘no one can make you feel inferior without your own consent.’ Be proud of your own talents and communicate more effectively.

Stress, if moderate, is necessary to clear cobwebs from our mind. If approached positively stress can help us achieve the unachievable. The moral remains the same-we can either choose to become slave of the stressful conditions or use them to our advantage for achieving the unachievable.
