Library of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector-IV R. K .Puram New Delhi has become a digital Library. The Process of computerization was started in the month of December 200e-granthalayathalaya software ( A digital agenda for library automation) supplied by National Informatics Centre, New Delhi . Data entries of Books were made by Librarian and Internal Staff of the Vidyalaya. A data entry operator was also engaged for the purpose. Books were processed for computerized circulation using book card, book pocket and issue slip. Circulation of books is being made by creating Computerized membership records for students and staff of the vidyalaya. The software enables a user to search and locate any book online in the Library. Circulation of books is being made automatically.
About The Library
- School established in 1978.
- Total Number Books to Date = 12184
- Total Number of Newspapers subscribed = 08
- Total Number of Magazines subscribed = 40
(Out of this 12 magazines are for primary section only)
- Classes from VI to XII have regular periods in the Library.
- Primary Classes have their own Library periods and for this they have been given 1000+ books from the Library for their sections.
- All the major subjects have fair amount of representation on the Library shelves.
- Library is open during the working hours and even during recess period also. Students are encouraged to use the Library during this period.
- Students are given books for a week but are re-issued if they require it.
- Students are allowed to borrow more than one book as and when there is a requirement.
- Classes from VI to VIII maintain a Library copy in which they record every book borrowed from the Library. In their copy they collect quotations, poems, puzzles of new words learnt.
- Students from VI to IX are given Library projects. These projects are for the academic year and students keep collecting and adding more material to their respective project files.
- A special section is maintained on careers and courses. All the new material is displayed on the display board.
